Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a scientific system of medicine that provides an effective and safe method of healing. It is based on the theory of “like cures like” – a substance that causes symptoms of illness in a healthy person can treat the same symptoms in someone who is ill. Substances are diluted many times to make a remedy that is safe to use, but sufficient “likeness” remains between the remedy and the illness to stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities. Much in the same way as vaccination .

Homeopathy is a holistic therapy – it treats the whole person and their mental and emotional state as well as physical symptoms. Homeopathic remedies are prescribed according to each individual’s symptom picture rather than the illness itself. Thus different persons suffering from the same illness might be given different remedies.

Homeopathy is one of the most popular complementary therapies.

Guidelines for Using Homeopathic Remedies

  • No water need be taken to “wash the medicine down”. Absorption takes place form the mouth. The dose should be put into a “clean mouth”. While taking homeopathic remedies the use of all other crude medicines should be avoided if possible, including laxatives, nasal drops and liniments.
  • The guiding rule is to always stop the administration of the remedy when relief is obtained.
  • The prolonged use of a remedy will defeat its own purposed by over-stimulation.
  • Homeopathic remedies are contraindicated with strong flavours, so you are advised to not to use mint toothpaste, coffee, eat mints, menthol or eucalyptus or cough sweets.
