Alexander Technique

Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique is probably the most well known Western system of movement therapy. It is a method of bringing the way we move under conscious control and avoiding a buildup of muscular tension. Young children possess natural poise, but years of hunching and slouching distort the way in which muscles and joints work. By learning to stand and move correctly, stresses on the body are eased, and complaints that are exacerbated by poor posture are alleviated. The technique was developed at the turn of the century by F.Mathias Alexander who was a semi-invalid who restored his own health and then taught others to do the same. He noticed that the performance of actors and musicians could be affected by poor posture. By applying his techniques, performance results could be improved.

Treatment is especially useful in treating the following health conditions:
asthma, anxiety, back pain, breathing problems, circulatory disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, colitis, depression, digestive problems, headaches and migraines, insomnia, menstrual problems, stress.
